Offset was born in Mantova as a trio in 2010, the year in which the guitarist Marcello Abate begins to collaborate with the drummer Federico Negri and the double bass player Davide Paulis. They experiments with different sound solutions, while remaining faithful to the tradition of standards. In 2016 the musicians of the trio met the saxophonist Manuel Caliumi at the Nuoro Jazz seminars. The desire to propose original music pushes the components to a change: the trio, which has become a quartet, will begin to propose only original compositions. In the following years Offset will have the opportunity to perform in the main festivals / clubs in Lombardia and Emilia Romagna, as well as in the finals of the Stefano Cerri and Marco Tamburini national awards. Having reached the end of 2018, the desire for a constant stylistic renewal pushes the components of the formation to a new change, thanks to the collaboration of the vibraphonist Giovanni Perin.

Giovanni Graduated with honors with David Friedman at the University of Arts (Berlin). As a vibes player he has won many international competitions and has played in festivals, radio and TV shows. He is professor of percussion and gives classes on improvisation in many conservatories and universities. His vibes scores are published by Norsk Musikforlag and he is Mike Balter endorser. ... more
